All three SCSI hard drives may be dead... but the MDPortal Elite now has NIC! w00t! I'm thinking that since there are no SCSI devices in the chain, the SCSI controller might be shut down. I'll have to check that... then make sure all of the IRQs are correct. Go go gadget device manager! Now where'd I put that Cat 5 UTP... Eh.. Now that I come back to the driver installation it wants the 98 SE disk. Grr..... where'd I put that...

NIC
Yeah, I have no idea why the SCSI controller card causes conflicts with the NIC; especially considering that I've tried different NIC's (PCI and ISA) and different slots. SE? I think I have 98 SE with me. I may have your copy, too. Perhaps I should mail that to you. This brand makes the thing which a consumer is satisfied with. - engrish.com

Dunno either, though it likes
Dunno either, though it likes the 3Com 3C905-TX... although like I said. The SCSI adapter might be off since there's nothing on the chain now... Anyway, if you could get me a disk that'd be way so super totally muy super fantastica that I might explode! Plus I can nuke the OS and clean up the lovely errors... there is no backing out of a driver installation in 98 :( ------------------------ Other time... other space.

True
The other issue is making the NIC and SCSI controller card play together nicely if we dig up more drives. This brand makes the thing which a consumer is satisfied with. - engrish.com

True... though I'm still hoping they're both vying for the same IRQ which is easily fixed. ------------------------ Other time... other space.

There...
It's done. What do you think? Oh yeah.. I suppose I should explain. The NIC is working, so is the SCSI controller. Hmmm... maybe it was just the particulars of your network cards and the Elite Machine. My 3C905C-TX-M works fine. The SCSI card is on IRQ 10 and the NIC is on 05, btw. So.. it's on the network. Now what... Ah-HA! STARCRAFT! ------------------------ Other time... other space.
